Three people have been shot at a US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (Ice) detention facility in Dallas, Texas.<\/p>\n

It has been reported that the gunman, who has not yet been named, is dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.<\/p>\n

It has also been reported that one victim has died at the scene, says NBC News. No ICE agents have been shot or injured.<\/p>\n

Police responded to the scene around 6:40am local time.<\/p>\n

Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem has spoken out on the ordeal and said that a motive for the attack is yet to be determined.<\/p>\n

She tweeted: \u201cThere was a shooting this morning at the Dallas @ICEgov Field Office. Details are still emerging but we can confirm there were multiple injuries and fatalities.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe shooter is deceased by a self-inflicted gun shot wound. While we don\u2019t know motive yet, we know that our ICE law enforcement is facing unprecedented violence against them. It must stop.<\/p>\n

Noem added: \u201cPlease pray for the victims and their families.\u201d<\/p>\n

JD Vance has also reacted to the news and said that the \u2018obsessive attack on law enforcement\u2019, ICE in particular, \u2018must stop\u2019.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m praying for everyone hurt in this attack and for their families,\u201d the vice president went on.<\/p>\n

Acting ICE director Todd Lyons has said that the shooter was a \u2018possible sniper\u2019 as the they allegedly shot from an elevated position and from \u2018an adjacent building\u2019, as per the Dallas Police Department.<\/p>\n

The facility the incident took place is used to process detainees before they\u2019re transferred to a detention center, says CNN. Typically it holds a couple of dozen people at a time, a former senior ICE official told the news outlet.<\/p>\n

People who were being detained at the facility at the time of the shooting are reportedly among the victims.<\/p>\n
