It is a touching acknowledgment that even at the end of our lives, we are allowed moments of luxury and comfort \u2013 all from a chef who sees great meaning in a deliciously prepared meal.Comfort Food Kits Speaking to the <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mirror.co.uk\/news\/health\/i-make-last-meal-people-35247862\">Mirror<\/a>, <\/em>chef Richards revealed there is no greater privilege than making the last days of the patients a little bit better with his comforting food.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy own philosophy is that there can be no greater privilege as a chef than serving someone their final meal. Recently a 21-year-old patient didn\u2019t connect with anything on the standard menu. He was young and didn\u2019t like the usual options, so we talked and he liked street food, so we made that happen,\u201d he shared with the publication.He recalled making a birthday <a class=\"google-anno\" href=\"https:\/\/boreddaddy.com\/hospice-chef-reveals-the-one-comfort-food-most-people-ask-for-before-they-die\/?fbclid=IwY2xjawR3I-FleHRuA2FlbQIxMABicmlkETF3ZDJBcjV1YkZVeE5rSnRuc3J0YwZhcHBfaWQQMjIyMDM5MTc4ODIwMDg5MgABHqzSe5Ch8NFg6FghiEO8OZK9QVg0PxjAOuIwbqdNcoZttUKgupUZp1VgLmXm_aem_VwJkykNOjNURKLbJF8ngJw#\" data-google-vignette=\"false\" data-google-interstitial=\"false\">\u00a0<span class=\"google-anno-t\">cake<\/span><\/a> for a 93-year-old patient who spent her entire life in a traditional home where birthday celebrations weren\u2019t common.<\/p>\n<div class=\"google-anno-skip google-anno-sc\" tabindex=\"0\" role=\"link\" aria-label=\"Gourmet Food Delivery\" data-google-vignette=\"false\" data-google-interstitial=\"false\">Gourmet Food Delivery<\/div>\n<p>\u201cWhen we surprised her with one, she was in tears. She was absolutely over the moon.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Actually, a birthday cake is the most common thing the patients at Sobell House Hospice ask for as their days on earth are slowly coming to an end.<\/h3>\n<p>\u201cThey\u2019re small things, but especially for people who\u2019ve been isolated or are feeling lonely, they mean a lot,\u201d chef Richards <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mirror.co.uk\/news\/health\/i-make-last-meal-people-35247862\">said<\/a>.Further, he explained that adapting the dishes he prepares is of great importance since most of the patients who are at palliative care lose the ability to swallow.
