Again, it was the nurse.<\/p>\n

Her eyes were swollen and her voice shook.<\/p>\n

Brian tried to interrupt, but the nurse ignored him completely. She looked directly at the young mother and placed a document in her hands.<\/p>\n

The paper that changed everything<\/p>\n

It was an official report from the hospital\u2019s social services team.<\/p>\n

According to the report, the father had specifically asked staff to stop bringing the newborn to his mother. It also noted that the young woman appeared to be \u201cunder pressure.\u201d<\/p>\n

Then another detail immediately stood out.<\/p>\n

The mother herself had repeatedly requested to see her child. Each time he was brought in, she cried, reached toward him, and desperately wanted to keep holding him.<\/p>\n

Slowly, she lifted her eyes toward Brian, stunned.<\/p>\n

\u2014 You told them to stop bringing my baby to me?<\/p>\n

Brian tightened his jaw.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was trying to protect you,\u201d he answered.<\/p>\n

Then the nurse gently began explaining.<\/p>\n

Since the birth, she had seen a mother constantly asking about her son, wanting him close, reaching for him whenever possible, and continuing to search for connection even while frightened and overwhelmed.<\/p>\n
