\nThe NFL\u2019s new \u201cno anthem kneeling\u201d rule went into effect the first week of the season. Unfortunately, there was little anyone could do about it if they took a knee and the coach allowed it.<\/p>\n
This week, all that has changed. The league gave the power to eject players for unsportsmanlike conduct to the referee, with the penalty coming at the end of the opening kickoff.<\/p>\n
In Buffalo, the kickoff resulted in a touchdown that was called back to the spot of the catch \u2014 the 3-yeard-line \u2014 and Right Guard Joe Barron, a notorious kneeler, was ejected. \u201cIt\u2019s the only way these guys will learn,\u201d said Referee William Vanden Boom, \u201cyou have to hit them where it hurts most.\u201d<\/p>\n
Vanden Boom isn\u2019t wrong on that point. Each player ejected faces fines from both their team and the league that could run into the hundreds of thousands. All for a \u201cprotest.\u201d<\/p>\n
ALLOD Sportsball Analyzer Tara Newhole, who once dated Vanden Boom\u2019s ex-girlfriend, Sandy Batt, said anyone who thinks a 20 or 30-year age difference is immoral somehow can come tell her that to her face. \u201cSandy could watch football and pound Miller Lite like no other,\u201d said Newhole, \u201cso screw all of you.\u201d<\/p>\n
There was some immediate confusion as to how the subject came up. As it turns out, there was like a mushroom or 12 involved. \u201cI like to make tea,\u201d she said, \u201cand I won\u2019t apologize.\u201d<\/p>\n
