Only five years since her good friend died of breast cancer, Penny Lancaster<\/a> struggled to cope when she learned that her sister-in-law was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer<\/a>, on the same day that she learned she was pregnant.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The excitement of having a second child with husband Rod Stewart<\/a> was quickly replaced by horror when Lancaster said she \u201cfelt like her baby had gone.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

In 1999, Penny Lancaster was at a party with her friend, Maria Falco, who playing Cupid, encouraged her to speak with Rod Stewart<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cLots of people take credit for getting Rod and I together but it was actually Maria\u2026when Maria saw Rod she dared me to go up and ask him for his autograph,\u201d Lancaster said<\/a>. \u201c\u2026It\u2019s still hard to believe that she\u2019s not here.\u201d<\/p>\n

Though Falco was there for the birth of their first son, she was not there in 2007 when Lancaster wed the legendary rocker at a medieval monastery in Italy\u2019s Portofino.<\/p>\n
