An accident killed the CEO of the big private shipping company Foremost. She was the sister of Elaine Chao, who used to be the US Transportation Secretary.<\/p>\n

Angela Chao was a leader in the maritime industry. She was the daughter of Foremost founder James SC Chao and the sister-in-law of Senator Mitch McConnell.<\/p>\n

In a statement that The U.S. Sun got, her family\u2019s shipping company, Foremost Group, confirmed her sad death.<\/p>\n

They said Chao \u201cplaced special emphasis on paying attention to the care and well-being of our crews\u201d & \u201cplayed a role in performing our services.\u201d<\/p>\n

People at the US Coast Guard Academy also thought of her and sent their condolences on social media.<\/p>\n

\u201cAngela was a trailblazer in the maritime industry and a true friend of the Academy,\u201d the school said.<\/p>\n

\u201cHer grace, compassion and leadership will be remembered by all who knew her.\u201d<\/p>\n

Chao finished both Harvard College and Harvard Business School. After that, she worked for a few years at the financial firm Morgan Stanley Smith Barney.<\/p>\n

In 2018, she became CEO of her dad\u2019s business.<\/p>\n

Her 96-year-old father, who was deeply saddened by her death, wrote a sad statement in which he called her a \u201cbrilliant woman\u201d and \u201ca charismatic and visionary leader.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cShe smiled and laughed all the time. \u201cShe deeply believed that family, friends, and helping others are the most important things in life,\u201d the statement said.<\/p>\n
