His daughter, whom he shares with girlfriend Monique Cook, was weeks away from turning two years old.<\/p>\n<div id=\"newsner-6a9b07f62c64db6e2e778763a75c16f1\" class=\"newsner-6a9b07f62c64db6e2e778763a75c16f1 newsner-bluebillywig_instream\">\n<div id=\"newsner-1921544658\" class=\"newsner-bluebillywig_instream\">\n<div id=\"\">\n<div id=\"bb-iawr-newsner_english_playout-1601396675571335\" class=\"bb_iawr\">\n<div id=\"bb-wr-newsner_english_playout-1601396675571335\" class=\"bb-media bb_wrapper bb-muted bb-phase-init bb-mode-video bb-pendingplay\" data-flags=\"{}\" data-softembargoremainingtime=\"0\" data-sid=\"StTYgi1q4X8Y\" data-isready=\"true\" data-autoplaynextremainingtime=\"0\">\n<div class=\"bb-layer bb-context-layer\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cWe are heartbroken that our beautiful baby girl, Amani Joy passed away on Monday morning. She was the best blessing we could have asked for, and her joyous spirit made us smile from ear to ear,\u201d Ward wrote on\u00a0Instagram.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe taught us to have patience, trust, and a positive outlook on life. She showed us true strength and bravery. She overcame adversity at a young age and was always happy, lighting up every room with her smile.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to\u00a0SFGate, Amani was diagnosed with Down syndrome and a heart defect in utero. She was born five weeks early, and underwent heart surgery before she was six months old.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this year, Ward dedicated a post on Instagram to his daughter in celebration of World Down Syndrome Day.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAmani Joy Ward has been the best blessing I could\u2019ve asked for. I used to think Down Syndrome was a handicap but now I realize it is just a gift from God,\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBeing Amani\u2019s dad has taught me patience &amp; how to surrender &amp; let things be.
