A man suspected of burglarizing a Trump campaign office in Virginia has been arrested in California, authorities reported.<\/p>\n

According to a statement from the Loudoun County Sheriff\u2019s Office in Virginia, Axios reported that the University of California San Francisco Police Department apprehended Toby Shane Kessler, 39, \u201cfor squatting in an unoccupied campus dormitory.\u201d<\/p>\n

The suspect then spent a \u201cbrief period inside before leaving,\u201d according to the sheriff\u2019s office. \u201cIt is rare to have the office of any political campaign or party broken into,\u201d Sheriff Mike Chapman said in a statement following the August break-in.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are determined to identify the suspect, investigate why it happened, and determine what may have been taken as well as what may have been left behind,\u201d the sheriff added.<\/p>\n

Axios added: \u201cKessler faces burglary charges under Virginia Code and will appear in court at at later date, per the sheriff\u2019s office statement.\u201d<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the 47th president-to-be gave a pointed correction to the establishment media on Wednesday, adding another twist<\/a> to his Cabinet selection process.<\/p>\n

Reports emerged late Tuesday that Trump\u2019s nominee to lead the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, Florida Sheriff Chad Chronister, withdrew from consideration.<\/p>\n

Major outlets, including\u00a0Fox News<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0The Wall Street Journal<\/em>, covered the story, with the\u00a0Journal<\/em>\u00a0noting that Trump\u2019s other Cabinet picks are also facing \u201cscrutiny.\u201d<\/p>\n

The president-elect took particular umbrage with the\u00a0Journal<\/em>\u2018s coverage and\u00a0took to his Truth Social platform<\/a>\u00a0to issue a correction.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Wall Street Journal is becoming more and more obnoxious and unreadable,\u201d Trump began. \u201cToday\u2019s main headline is: \u2018Trump\u2019s DEA Pick Pulls Out In Latest Setback.\u2019 With all that\u2019s happening in the World, this is their Number One story of the day.<\/p>\n

\u201cBesides, he didn\u2019t pull out, I pulled him out, because I did not like what he said to my pastors and other supporters,\u201d Trump continued. \u201cBut, more importantly, what\u2019s my \u2018latest\u2019 setback??? I just won the Presidency of the United States! They haven\u2019t written a good story about me in YEARS.\u201d<\/p>\n

He concluded with a zinger at another finance-oriented publication that has gone from right-leaning to moderate at best over the past decade: \u201cSomebody over there ought to look at what they\u2019re doing. The only one worse than them is stupid, China-centric Forbes Magazine!\u201d<\/p>\n

Chronister faced intense criticism from Trump\u2019s base of support after it came to light that he had once arrested a pastor for holding church services during the peak of COVID-19 lockdowns.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Trump\u2019s pick to lead the Defense Department\u00a0strongly suggested<\/a>\u00a0during a hallway interview at the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday that he\u2019s not going to drop out of consideration despite mounting allegations of sexual and personal misconduct.<\/p>\n

Former Fox News contributor Pete Hegseth, an Army officer with documented combat experience, said that he spoke with Trump earlier in the day and that the president-elect encouraged him to \u201ckeep fighting.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI spoke to the President-elect this morning. He said keep going, keep fighting\u2026 Why would I back down? I\u2019ve always been a fighter,\u201d he told a reporter.<\/p>\n

Asked directly if he was thinking of withdrawing his name amid the allegations, Hegseth said he was on Capitol Hill to meet with senators and that would continue.<\/p>\n

On Friday, Trump dropped a new statement in support of Hegseth, noting on his Truth Social account.<\/p>\n
