Country music fans met\u00a0Rory Feek<\/a>\u00a0when he and his wife, Joey Martin, were part of CMT\u2019s Can You Duet series about 16 years ago. Feek is a songwriter with a penchant for overhauls, most known for writing Blake Shelton\u2019s \u201cSome Beach.\u201d<\/p>\n

Feek and\u00a0Martin<\/a>\u00a0lived on a farm about an hour outside Nashville with Feek\u2019s two daughters, Heidi and Hopie. Martin had their daughter, Indiana, almost 11 years ago in a dramatic home birth. Indie, as her family calls her, was diagnosed with Down Syndrome, and her mother died of cervical cancer just after her second birthday.<\/p>\n

Her death captured the hearts of the nation, and people have remained interested in the Feek family since Martin\u2019s 2016 passing.<\/p>\n

Feek stayed immersed in homesteading and got remarried in 2024. His new wife is one of Indy\u2019s teachers at the schoolhouse he built on his property. However, his relationship with his older daughters is fractured. He stopped letting Indy spend nights with them because they didn\u2019t share his strict lifestyle, and his daughters went public with concerns for their sister\u2019s wellbeing.<\/p>\n

Rory Feek Learns Hopie Isn\u2019t Biologically His<\/h3>\n

Today, Feek shared another jarring development in their family\u2019s story. His 36-year-old daughter Hopie told him she learned she\u00a0wasn\u2019t his biological daughter<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\nHe wrote she called him on Thursday and asked to meet him in the cemetery on the farm two days later. Feek didn\u2019t know why.<\/p>\n

\u201cI had been praying that she or Heidi would call,\u201d Feek wrote. \u201cI hadn\u2019t seen either of the girls in a year, and they\u2019d not spoken much more than a sentence at a time to me in more than two. So, to see Hopie\u2019s name come up on my phone felt like an answer to prayer.\u201d<\/p>\n

They sat on the bench across from Martin\u2019s grave, and Hopie told her estranged father, who raised her, that she wasn\u2019t biologically his. It was their first conversation in two-and-a-half years.<\/p>\n

Feek and his wife separated shortly after Hopie\u2019s birth, and while his ex initially took Hopie with her, Feek ultimately raised both girls alone until he met Martin.
