Border Czar Tom Homan delivered a forceful defense of the Trump administration\u2019s immigration policies during a tense appearance on MSNBC\u2019s Morning Joe, sharply criticizing the Biden administration\u2019s approach to the border and accusing Democrats of hypocrisy. \u201cWe want people, if you\u2019re in the country, go home, do things the right way,\u201d Homan said during the segment.<\/p>\n

He added that people in the U.S. illegally who choose to leave voluntarily maintain the ability to re-enter legally under various visa categories, without facing the re-entry ban triggered by formal deportation. \u201cCome into the country the right way,\u201d he said. \u201cThat leaves that ability open for you.\u201d However, the tone shifted sharply as Homan attributed the surge in illegal crossings, the humanitarian crisis at the border, and fentanyl deaths to Biden-era policies.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen you take Border Patrol off the line\u2026 that\u2019s when the fentanyl comes across\u2026 that\u2019s when sex trafficking in women and children went up 600%\u2026 that\u2019s when a record number of people on terrorist watchlists comes across an unguarded border,\u201d Homan said. Co-host Joe Scarborough tried to steer the discussion toward concerns about due process, citing recent criticisms regarding deportation procedures. \u201cThat strikes a lot of Americans as being un-American,\u201d Scarborough said, further claiming that even conservatives believe there\u2019s a right way and wrong way to handle immigration enforcement.<\/p>\n

But the border czar flatly rejected that argument. \u201cThe American people voted for Donald Trump,\u201d Homan countered. \u201cVast majority of Americans want illegal aliens removed from this country\u2026 There are millions\u2026 doing their background investigation, paying their fees\u2026 while 10.5 million illegal immigrants came\u2026 which is a violation of law.\u201d Scarborough questioned Homan regarding concerns about the Constitution and the Supreme Court\u2019s position on due process. \u201cYou cannot remove somebody that is here, even illegally, without giving them notice and without giving them due process before a judge,\u201d he argued.<\/p>\n
