<\/p>\nLeft-wing \u2018Squad\u2019 member Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has a problem, and it\u2019s that she can\u2019t seem to get out of the way of her own arrogance. She keeps tweaking the Trump administration over the issue of illegal immigration, and it feels an awful lot like she\u2019s getting close to getting bitten \u2013 in a legal sense \u2013 by the Justice Department.<\/p>\n

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said Monday on Hannity that it is \u201centirely appropriate\u201d for the Department of Justice (DOJ) to investigate Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez over her recent comments directed at illegal migrants. During a town hall Friday in Jackson Heights, Queens, Ocasio-Cortez challenged border czar Tom Homan to \u201ccome\u201d for her, intensifying a public feud that began earlier this year. Fox News host Sean Hannity asked Noem whether her previous statements could be viewed as \u201caiding and abetting\u201d and if the DOJ should \u201clook into this situation.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI think the Department of Justice absolutely should look into this situation,\u201d Noem said. \u201cWe\u2019ve seen not just those that serve in public office be willing to break the law to facilitate the invasion that has happened and allow criminals to stay here. We\u2019ve also seen judges take radical action to help protect these criminals. It\u2019s time that we stand for what\u2019s right.\u201d<\/p>\n
On February 12, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez hosted a virtual event on her Facebook page titled \u201cKnow Your Rights With ICE,\u201d where she offered guidance to undocumented migrants on how to handle encounters with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents at home or at work. In the days following the event, border czar Tom Homan issued a warning on Fox News, stating he had begun working with the Department of Justice to assess whether the webinar constituted obstruction of the Trump administration\u2019s immigration enforcement efforts.<\/p>\n

Since then, the two have continued to clash publicly, with Ocasio-Cortez eventually requesting clarification from the DOJ on whether she is the subject of an investigation. \u201cThe American people are sick of these people abusing our system to try to promote an agenda. Remember, the Democrats are using fear to control people. They\u2019re out there motivating people by fear, and they\u2019re standing alongside known terrorists in order to endanger our future,\u201d Noem said. \u201cSo I think it\u2019s entirely appropriate that the Department of Justice look into these situations.\u201dObviously, the Bronx Democrat believes she\u2019s untouchable and that she\u2019s only engaging in her constitutional right of \u2018free speech\u2019 in advising people in our country\u00a0illegally<\/em>\u00a0how they can avoid being removed. Well, you can\u2019t yell \u2018Fire!\u2019 in a crowded theater or slander someone publicly, either, so the \u2018free speech\u2019 argument only goes so far.
