But it\u2019s important to remember that there\u2019s no \u201cright\u201d amount for everyone. Oxytocin has the added benefit of helping you <a href=\"https:\/\/www.webmd.com\/sleep-disorders\/default.htm\" data-crosslink-type=\"article\" data-metrics-link=\"\">sleep<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<section>\n<h2 id=\"1-2\" class=\"jumplink-headers\">Memory<\/h2>\n<p>Research is in the early stages, but some studies have shown that people who have sex often are better at recalling memories. And there are signs that sex can help your <a href=\"https:\/\/www.webmd.com\/brain\/brain-diseases\" data-crosslink-type=\"article\" data-metrics-link=\"\">brain<\/a> grow neurons and work better in general.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<section>\n<h2 id=\"1-3\" class=\"jumplink-headers\">Relationship Health<\/h2>\n<p>Regular sex helps you feel emotionally close to your partner, which opens the door to better communication. Couples who have sex more often tend to say they\u2019re happier than those who get less of it.<\/p>\n<p>But it doesn\u2019t have to happen every day &#8212; once a week seems to be enough. This seems to be true no matter your age or gender, or how long you\u2019ve been in the relationship.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<section>\n<h2 id=\"1-4\" class=\"jumplink-headers\">Immune System<\/h2>\n<p>Regular sex can help your body fight off illness, so having it less often might lead to more <a href=\"https:\/\/www.webmd.com\/cold-and-flu\/default.htm\" data-crosslink-type=\"article\" data-metrics-link=\"\">colds<\/a> and the like. In one study, college students who had sex one to two times per week were shown to have higher levels of a certain antibody (called immunoglobulin A) that plays an important role in your <a href=\"https:\/\/www.webmd.com\/cold-and-flu\/10-immune-system-busters-boosters\" data-crosslink-type=\"article\" data-metrics-link=\"\">immune system<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<section>\n<h2 id=\"1-6\" class=\"jumplink-headers\">Vaginal Walls and Lubrication<\/h2>\n<p>If you\u2019re a woman who\u2019s gone through menopause, you have another reason to keep having sex. Without regular intercourse, your <a href=\"https:\/\/www.webmd.com\/women\/what-is-a-vaginal-self-exam\" data-crosslink-type=\"article\" data-metrics-link=\"\">vagina<\/a> can tighten and its tissues can get thinner and be more likely to get injured, tear, or even bleed during sex.
