The GOP-controlled House of Representatives has finally set a date for when it will begin its long-awaited impeachment hearing for Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas. The House Homeland Security Committee will begin the effort on January 10th, the day that Congress comes back from its Christmas break.

\nSuch is what House Homeland Security Committee Chairman Mark Green, told Punchbowl News, saying that the committee has been investigating the conduct of Secretary Mayorkas and his office and has determined that his refusal to defend the border and enforce the law has been a breach of his oath of office.<\/p>\n
Speaking on that, Congressman Green said, \u201cOur investigation made clear that this crisis finds its foundation in Secretary Mayorkas\u2019 decision-making and refusal to enforce the laws passed by Congress, and that his failure to fulfill his oath of office demands accountability.\u201d<\/p>\n
Continuing, he then announced the date, which is Wednesday, January 3, saying, \u201cThe bipartisan House vote in November to refer articles of impeachment to my Committee only served to highlight the importance of our taking up the impeachment process \u2013 which is what we will begin doing next Wednesday.\u201d<\/p>\n
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, posting about the impeachment of Mayorkas on Elon Musk\u2019s X, said, \u201cI\u2019m proud to have led the charge to IMPEACH Secretary Mayorkas for months in the House of Representatives. Before the House left Washington for Christmas break, I forced a vote on my impeachment resolution that put every member on the record.
