Picture: CEN\/australscope<\/p>\n<p>The baby\u2019s 34-year-old mother said she had the coil inserted two years earlier but it clearly didn\u2019t work because she later found out she was pregnant.<\/p>\n<p>Dr Phuong explained the device may have been moved from its original position, becoming an ineffective form of contraception and allowing the mother to become pregnant.<\/p>\n<p>The baby was healthy when born, weighing 3.2kg \u2013 a third baby for the mum who already had two children, according to a report by\u00a0The Sun.<\/p>\n<p>Snaps of the bub\u2019s elaborate entrance into the world have sparked a huge reaction online with many declaring it \u201chilarious\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis baby was destined to be born,\u201d one wrote on Facebook.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSomeone I know had this happen to her. Her baby was born holding her coil,\u201d another said.<\/p>\n<p>Some people said it was \u201clucky\u201d the device did not hurt the bub.<\/p>\n<p>While the picture has captured public imagination, the mother has not commented on its authenticity.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s not the first time a baby has been born\u00a0apparently defiantly clutching its mum\u2019s failed contraception.<\/p>\n<p>Back in 2017, a baby boy named Dexter arrived holding his mum\u2019s Mirena implant, which his mum shared on Facebook.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMirena fail!\u201d she captioned the snap.<\/p>\n<p>However it was later revealed to be a staged shot taken by the new parents. The IUD was actually said to have been removed during the mother\u2019s c-section, rather than being clutched in the baby\u2019s tiny fist.<\/p>\n<p>There are two types of IUDs available to women to use, both of which are placed inside the uterus to prevent pregnancy, according to\u00a0Health Direct.<\/p>\n<p>The difference between the two which are both similar \u201cT\u201d shapes are one is made from copper acting more as a physical barrier to prevent pregnancy, while the other is made from plastic and has a slow-release hormone.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A doctor was left surprised when she delivered a baby holding something \u201cinteresting\u201d in his hand \u2013 after sharing the photo, it\u2019s gone viral.
