A social media post attributed to a Secret Service agent expressed apparent approval of Wednesday’s assassination of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk.
RealClearPolitics reporter Susan Crabtree highlighted the comments on X, pointing to a Facebook account under the name Anthony Pough, whom she identified as a Secret Service agent.
“You can’t circumvent karma, she doesnt leave,” the post from the alleged agent said, an apparent reference to Kirk’s murder. The post also said Kirk “spews hate and racism on his show.”
It’s not clear, as of this writing, if the person who posted the anti-Kirk message is a Secret Service agent.
“The comments are similar to the incendiary remarks now former @MSNBC contributor Matthew Dowd made on the network. The network fired Dowd from his contributorship yesterday for saying ‘hateful thoughts lead to hateful words, which then lead to hateful actions.’ MSNBC called Dowd’s comments ‘insensitive and unacceptable’ and ultimately fired him,” she wrote.
“The Secret Service agent’s post is circulating in the Secret Service community with some agents upset over his sentiments because he appears to be celebrating the death of a political figure, and one whom the president is honoring with the Presidential Medal of Freedom and has often had by his side at events over the last several years,” Crabtree added.
“What about other MAGA figures who often appear with Trump — would the agent’s political views prevent him from protecting Trump effectively or anyone who may be targeted while appearing with Trump or another administration official?” she noted further.
Crabtree wrote that she quoted a “source in the Secret Service community” as saying, “If that’s all it takes to set you off, that’s dangerous to have around.”
She noted that the source also told her: “I’m mostly concerned about the morals of a person sworn to protect the rights of others to engage in politics and exercise free speech, celebrating the death of someone exercising those same rights.”
She added that the suspected agent in question regularly posted comments critical of President Donald Trump.
“I’m told this agent, who is in Phase 2 of his career, is not on a detail that would be regularly charged with protecting Trump,” she wrote.
“Yet, all agents, at times, are called off their official details/duties to contribute to presidential coverage of some kind or another,” she noted further.
She also wrote that comments in Pough’s post claimed Kirk was racist, declaring, “Charlie Kirk says black women do not have the brain processing power.” She pointed out that the comment originated from a discussion in July 2023 on Kirk’s show, where he noted that several black women stated affirmative action was essential to their careers.
Last month, a former Secret Service agent blamed Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz and other Democrats in the state for supporting the “most mentally unbalanced.”
During a segment on “The Ingraham Angle,” a panel discussed the tragic shooting at a Minneapolis Catholic church mass in which two children were killed and 18 people were wounded, including 15 children.
“Rich, now, you believe prosecutions are in order over what happened today, despite the killer having killed himself. Who should that be?” Ingraham asked former Secret Service agent Rich Staropoli.
“No, absolutely. I think you’ve got to start going after this idiot Jacob Frey, right, and his ridiculous, insane ideology with the transgender community here,” Staropoli began.
“This guy has gone so far out of his way to provide top cover and support for a group of people who are the most mentally unbalanced group of people in the entire world,” he continued. “The left created this shooter.”
