Jessica quickly checked Sarah for a pulse and immediately radioed for an urgent medical evacuation.
Marcus ordered both men to get on the ground while keeping his focus squarely on the suspects. David hesitated at first while attempting to use his status as a homeowner to dismiss the officers but a stern warning from Jessica forced him to comply. Vince surrendered quickly while offering weak excuses about the situation being an accident. Marcus successfully secured both men in handcuffs without any further physical confrontation.
While visually sweeping the room Jessica noticed several disturbing details that contradicted the excuses provided by the suspects. She observed personal items scattered violently across the floor and a heavy chair wedged against the bathroom door to create a barricade.
Her attention was suddenly drawn away from the suspects when she heard the faint sounds of a crying child echoing from somewhere down the dark hallway. Realizing that children were present in the home Jessica immediately left Marcus to guard the suspects and hurried downstairs.
