Rocky is making major moves, though this time in terms of geography rather than the ring. Such is what Mr. Stallone announced to his family on Wednesday’s premier of season 2 of “The Family Stallone,” which is a reality TV show about the Stallone family. Sitting with his daughters – Scarlet, Sistine, and Sophia – Stallone explained why the move seemed prudent.

Speaking to the family, Stallone said he and his wife, Jennifer Flavin Stallone, had decided that it was time to leave California for good and move to the red state paradise of Florida, which many on the right see as far freer than Gavin Newsom’s California. It also has lower taxes, far less of a crime crisis in its cities, and business is booming rather than collapsing under the weight of crime, taxes, and regulation. 1,200 × 628

Explaining the decision to his three daughters, Stallone dropped the news bluntly, saying, “After long, hard consideration, your mother and I have decided, time to move on and leave the state of California permanently, and we’re going to go to Florida.”

Stallone’s wife indicated that she made the decision because she is sad living in California now that her daughters have flown the coop and left her an empty nester, saying, during a confessional interview on the show, “I raised all three of our daughters in California. Everything’s a memory to me, memories of them not being there anymore. So I needed a big change, and Sly went along with it.”

Stallone, for his part, said that leaving California for Florida will not be “an easy transition,” saying, “We have a lot of roots in California, so it’s not an easy transition to Florida. But Jennifer really had her heart set on it. I gave in.” Perhaps he’ll change his mind, however, when he sees the Sunshine State’s quality of life advantages, even for the rich and famous.

Jennifer Stallone had made similar comments about leaving California in a December of 2023 interview, saying, “I was born and raised there, two of our kids were born there, but now everyone’s out, our daughters moved to the East Coast … so there wasn’t really anything left for me in California. A few of our best friends also moved, so I think it’s [a] good change, just making new friends, living a totally different lifestyle, I love it, I’m really happy.”

She also said that crime was not the main motivation behind her decision to move, insisting, “There’s crime everywhere, there’s crime in Florida, too, so I didn’t move because of crime. You can find it anywhere you look, even in small towns.” She added, “I think California is probably the most beautiful state in the United States, I absolutely love it, but I just needed a change. I felt like I’ve been there long enough, and life is short, so I wanted to make a change and not just be sitting in one house the rest of my life.”
