54-year-old Mariah Carey criticized for red carpet outfit – ‘this is not something you should be wearing’

Mariah Carey managed to garner a lot of attention at a star studded event where everyone was dressed to impress. The reason so many critical eyes fell on the singer was because of her ‘daring’ outfit choice.

The 54-year-old singer attended the third annual Recording Academy Honors in a dress some considered to be unconventional. She wore a dress that hugged her figure, it was a cream dress that included a corset which was embellished with sheer caramel colored tulle details. The silhouette was incredibly flattering on the pop singer.

The outfit also featured a deep necklice that highlighted the singer’s figure in areas not everyone thought appropriate.

While fans praised the singer’s look, with one fan saying, “I like it ,” and another adding how the dress seemed to be “MADE for her.”

Others were more critical and deemed the dress to be a bit inappropriate for someone her age. A user commented, “Maybe in the early ’90s Mariah, but that’s not really something you should be wearing at 54.” While another person added, “At a certain age you just need to cover it up…” while a third one shared, “Someone needs to remind her that she’s 54, not 24.”

Mariah is no stranger to critical comments online as people are used to leaving judgemental comments on the star’s social media as well. In 2017, the pop star uploaded pictures of herself and then boyfriend Bryan Tanaka on Instagram and recieved a sleuth of comments fat shaming her.

“Mariah, you need to lose some weight cause your starting to look like a whale,” one person commented on the picture. Other people added that the singer looked like “a tease,” and that according to them she needed to “cover those airbags,” or that she “looked gross.” The singer has been on the recieving end of a lot of unfair comments.
