Without hesitation, Jenna interjected and exclaimed to the Today show veteran: “I know where she’s going with it.”
“I just had a little shock this morning,” Hoda added.
Jenna’s countenance shifted to one of shame and she even tapped Hoda on the arm in an attempt to make her cease talking. Surprisingly, this proved completely fruitless as the seasoned presenter kept right on going without so much as a pause!
“You promised me you wouldn’t do this!” said Jenna. “There’s a lot of people here.”
Hoda’s boisterous laugh echoed throughout the studio as she clasped her chest, trying to quell her merriment before announcing Jenna Bush Hager’s explosive news. But soon enough, after realizing that there was no way of stopping herself from harming Jenna any further, with a sigh of resignation she claimed: “Go ahead. It’s too late.”
“I was a little surprised. Because Jenna and I know a lot about each other. Anyway, we both had to change before the show. And we were like, ‘oh, we gotta go back into the changing room.’”
“Well, first, my dress zipper popped open,” Jenna said.
“Right,” Hoda said, adding “Then I noticed….”
Hoda took a moment for maximum impact. Clearly, she had not achieved her status as veteran presenter on the Today show without reason! Her pause eventually broke through the air, and then her truth was released.
“Jenna never wears underwear,” Hoda’s pointed comment about the younger presenter was heard by millions of viewers.
In an attempt to redeem herself, Jenna attempted to explain the logic behind her decision not to wear underwear while appearing on The Today Show.
“I think it makes a more pretty silhouette,” stated Jenna.
On-air, Hoda caught Jenna Bush Hager not wearing any underwear and inquired if it was even a hygienic practice. She pushed further to understand if more laundry had to be done as a result of foregoing panties under her clothes.
“She said, ‘Do you wash your clothes?’ and I said, ‘Yes, I do,’” stated Jenna. “But it’s also not like I’m sharing my jeans with you. Although, I do steal Savannah’s pants on occasion. And I do want to borrow that red suit of yours. Can I? But I’ll wear underwear.”
During her interview with US Weekly, Hoda expressed her opinion that women not wearing underwear was “gross”.
“First of all, I take the panty lines, OK?” said Hoda. “I know that’s what she’s worried about. What the hell?”
Savannah Guthrie fiercely opposed Jenna’s choice to forgo underwear.
