The passengers consisted of 169 Indian nationals, 53 British nationals, 7 Portuguese nationals, and 1 Canadian national.

The only survivor is a British citizen, 40-year-old Vishwash Kumar Ramesh. In addition to the several hundred on board, it has also been reported that several people on the ground have died.

According to reports from India, the plane crashed into a hostel housing medical students.

Sumeet Sabharwal was the first pilot, and at his side he had his second pilot, Clive Kundar.

The two raised the alarm in connection with the terrible crash, and the tragic message has now been made public.

“Mayday… no thrust, losing power, unable to lift,” read Sabharwal’s last chilling mayday message to ATC.

The Mirror also writes that Sabharwal had 8,200 flight hours registered, of which the co-pilot Clive Kundar had 1,100 hours of experience.

This is the first time that a Boeing 787 has crashed, and the cause of the crash is currently being investigated.
