Fetterman Breaks With Fellow Dems

U.S. Senator John Fetterman of Pennsylvania has publicly denounced recent acts of violence in Los Angeles connected to protests over immigration enforcement. In a social media post, Fetterman expressed concern over ongoing unrest and emphasized that while he supports peaceful demonstrations and immigration reform, the situation in Los Angeles has crossed a line.

“This is not peaceful protest,” Fetterman wrote. “This is anarchy and chaos. Setting cars on fire, destroying property, and assaulting law enforcement undermines any moral high ground.” He added that condemning such violence is essential to maintaining the credibility of public movements.

Over the past several days, tensions have escalated in Los Angeles following immigration enforcement actions carried out by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). These operations have led to widespread demonstrations, some of which turned destructive.

Attorney General Pam Bondi addressed the issue during a recent televised interview, stating that federal authorities would step in to prosecute individuals involved in violence against law enforcement. She announced that several individuals had already been charged with offenses such as looting and assaulting officers and warned that more federal charges could follow.

“We are committed to protecting both federal and local law enforcement,” Bondi said. “If local jurisdictions don’t act, the federal government will.”

Los Angeles law enforcement agencies have been responding to a series of incidents, including vandalism and property damage, amid public demonstrations. Bondi emphasized that federal law allows for prosecution of those who assault officers, with penalties that could include up to five years in prison.

Meanwhile, Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco voiced his concerns about the ongoing unrest, calling for greater focus on the rule of law. “This is not legitimate protest. It’s a violent attempt to influence public policy,” he said. “A stable society relies on consequences for unlawful actions.”

Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely, and officials have called for calm and respect for both legal processes and public safety.
