KJP Just Started a New Job

In somewhat surprising news, given how her press conferences tend to go, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean Pierre has a new job in the Biden Administration. In fact, she was promoted. KJP has now been elevated to the position of senior advisor to the president, a position change that was effective immediately upon its announcement.

As a reminder, KJP, who appears to have been put in her position at least in part because she is African-American, as the Biden Administration bragged about when making her press secretary, has served in that role since May 13, 2022. Her senior advisor role was announced and became effective on October 7, 2024.

In a statement announcing her new position, Jeff Zients, the president’s chief of staff, said, “Karine has been a trusted advisor to the President and all of us here at the White House since day one. Her counsel will be critical to get as much done as possible for the American people in the coming months.”
